The role of media in information sharing has been growing spectacularly with the recognition of the right to information fundamental right in the Constitution, Mass Media has assumed a Significant role. Among mass media , FM radio has been more effective in recent time. FM Radio is accessible to verities of people at different places, most notably , in the rural areas, where others, such as , TV and the internet may not be easily accessible. Information-sharing through mass Media is the fashion of the day. Easy , cheap and frequent accessibility to mass media has, in addition to others , rise the level of expectations the public has to know about such information from key public Sector/institutions, which has an impact on their lives. The Judiciary is one such institution that has been in the limelight needless to say, for the reason of its being the custodian of the rights of the people responsible for checking excesses by all, including government institution.

Background

As a non-commercial non- political facility , Meezan Radio operates under the PEMRA Rules. The frequency allotted to the radio is FM 96.6. The target area of the radio is initially Peshawar , which will be extended to the whole province in due course of time.

Objectives

Awareness among citizens about fundamental human rights.
Awareness among citizens about their rights and responsibilities in the existing system of law.
Awareness about rights of children, and minorities,women and weaker segments of society.
Encouraging access to Human Rights Directorate of the Peshawar High Court.
Public forum for seeking legal advice on solution of disputes.
Acquainting citizens with the laws, rules and regulations of the country.
Educate and interpret(to be deleted) public about the country’s legal system in light of views of renowned legal and judicial experts
