The Young Entrepreneurs' Maritime Lifestyle Society, also known as the "Yacht Club," was the brainchild of two students, Max and Zack, at the prestigious Glenbrook North High School, in Northbrook, IL in 2006. Both students were looking for an official place to exhibit their extensive knowledge and affinity for the maritime lifestyle.

Club Overview

A school based nautical interest and enthusiasm organization established to encourage, nurture, and strengthen students' affinity and curiosity for yachting and the affluent seafaring lifestyle.

Goals & Objectives

To establish a place for future captains of both industry and the high seas to come together and discuss common interests and goals. Interests include:

  • Yachting and Sailing
  • Country Club Athletics (golf, tennis, polo, quail hunting, etc.)
  • Style and Attire
  • Politics
  • Entrepreneurship

To provide an open-forum based learning environment that allows students to feel comfortable and welcome by their peers.

Qualifications for Membership

  • Any student that shares an interest in the maritime lifestyle, as well as those looking to expand their knowledge of said lifestyle, is permitted to join.

Sturcture of the Meetings

The two captains of the club conduct meetings with the help of board memebers and the administrative sponsor. Meeting topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Yachting: a look at the latest and greatest yachts
  • Potential student endeavours in country club athletics
  • Knot tying
  • Learning the nautical code
  • Establishing seamenship
