The history of Qinqiang

Qinqiang is an ancient opera, which probably started in the Neolithetic age three thousand years ago. Lots of people think that Qinqiang can be deemed as the originator of Chinese opera. However, in ancient times, the study of Qinqiang mainly stemmed on oral instruction and demonstration, so the early research on Qinqiang is scant. As for the early study of Qinqiang, the 14th version of the legendary edition of Bozhong Lotus in the Ming Dynasty (1573-1620 A.D.) is one of the most important and authoritative information. This play talks about a story that Aunt Wang stopped Gu Lao-er, a passing cylinder mender, and asked him to mend Han Cheng's cylinder. Unexpectedly, Gu Lao-er was so focused on Madame Wang's beauty and accidentally broke the cylinder again. Gu Lao Er's thieves never die, knocking at the widow's door at night, the angry Queen Madame showed the true nature of the zombie and scared him away. In the form of performance, the play uses the word "the second offender of the Western Qinqiang", and offers the original style of the formation of the Qinqiang plate cavity. The seven-character sentence pattern it uses is the direct evidence of the formation of the Qinqiang opera plate cavity. Its popular plot and folk expression are the important evidence of Qinqiang Opera's folk production. (Caobin 2013)[1]

The play is the work of the unknown family in the south of the Yangtze River, which shows that Qinqiang not only formed at that time or before, but also spread to other places like the south of the Yangtze River. The Qing Dynasty was the flowering period of Qinqiang, such as the famous book “Zhang Dingwang's On Qinqiang” Around the Forty-Four Years of Kangxi (1705) For over half a century, Qin Opera is one of the important Chinese traditional opera on the Beijing stage. It has been popular all over the country. In the process of its flourishing, it has been combined with other forms of opera and folk art. It is under continuous improvement. [2]
