Christopher "Chris" Schubert (Born April 7th, 1986 in Oberlin, Ohio) is a Professional American football wide receiver and return specialist, currently signed to play with the Richmond Raiders of the AIFA. Schubert was formerly a college football standout at Oberlin College where he started for four years, was named a member of the All-NCAC team all four years, and holds numerous school records.

High School

Chris attended Oberlin High School, a public school in the town of Oberlin, Ohio. Here he showed promise in athletics from early on in his career, participation in both varsity football and baseball. As an upperclassmen, Schubert began drawing interest from college football programs across the country.

Oberlin

As a true freshman in 2004, Schubert played in 9 regular season games before breaking his collarbone on a touchdown reception. Prior to the injury he distinguished himself as a talented return specialist with his open field vision and ability to break and allude tackles. Upon returning for his Sophomore season in 2005, Schubert led the Yeomen in receiving yards and touchdowns on the way to his second consecutive All-NCAC selection. Selected as a team captain by his teammates in both the 2006 and 2007 seasons, Schubert continued to lead the team in receptions, returns, and touchdown catches on the way to his third and fourth All-NCAC selections and an invitation to play in the Division III All-American Bowl in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Schubert graduated in 2008 as Oberlin's all-time leader in receiving yards (2,536), receiving touchdowns (23), kick/punt return yards (3,210), and returns for touchdowns. He is the only player in Oberlin College history to return a punt for a touchdown.

Post-College

Upon finishing his career at Oberlin, Shubert sought to continue his career as a football player in the professional ranks. Although he attended a mini camp hosted by the Cleveland Browns at the end of March 2008, he was not picked up by the team. He spent the fall of 2008 coaching for the Oberlin College football team and attending tryouts for various AFL teams. In November of 2008 Shubert was offered a contract by the Mahoning Valley Thunder of the AF2. After being cut by the Thunder in 2009 Schubert was offered a contract with the Richmond Raiders, an expansion team of the American Indoor Football Association. Schubert ended his first season with the Raiders in 2010 with a team leading 73 receptions, 805 yards, and 21 touchdowns.
