Born to Irvin M. and Susan T. (Bernhard) Yerger in 1971, Ross Anthony "Yergz" Yerger is a former minor league baseball umpire, amateur ice hockey referee and retired US Secret Service Special Agent. He has since become a podcaster and radio talk show host. "Yergz" grew up in the Boyertown School District, first living in an apartment above his paternal grandfather's barber shop (Irvin L.), then moving to nearby Colebrookdale Township by kindergarten, before moving to the other side of Gabelsville and into Earl Township on top of "Sand Hill," aka "Sandy Hill," at "Devil's Hump" where he helped his father build his father's newly formed construction company's first project, the log cabin that his parents live in to this day.

Yergz attended Colebrookdale Elementary, Boyertown Middle School - West Center (then, Boyertown Junior High School - West Center), Boyertown Senior High, Class of 1990, and The Pennsylvania State University, Class of 1995, with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History, and a minor in Political Science. Yergz also attended Bruce Hood's International School of Refereeing, Classes of 1988 and 1989, Don Koharski's School of Officiating (Class of 1990), Kevin Collins' Western New England Officiating School, and twice to the United States Olympic Training Center, Lake Placid, New York. Yergz is also a 1996 graduate of the Jim Evans Academy of Professional Umpiring, how he would later enter into minor league baseball.
