This contest aims to motivate increased quality in articles and improve participation in Wikipedia by offering a form of friendly competition for project members. The primary contest available is a simple rolling competition that awards points for improving articles, as originally developed by the Military History WikiProject and WikiCup.

When the contest is won, a special template will be placed on the winning contestant's user talkpage, and their name will be placed in the contest section of the Awards page.
