Second Vice Chairperson of the Brooklyn Community Board 15, TV Independent Producer.

Raisa Chernina has been known in New York City and far beyond as the founder and executive director of the Sheepshead Bay-based charity organization Be Proud, Inc. [BPI], a New York City-based not-for-profit organization that works primarily with Brooklyn’s Russian-speaking communities. Raisa Chernina is a creator and producer of the annual pageant "Your Highness Grandmother", an independent producer of television news reports, and organizer of many activities such as the collection of toys for needy children before the winter holidays, as food aid for the Passover and Easter holidays, as honoring police officers and Veterans of wars, BPI hosts an annual “Yad B'Yad,” the Hebrew phrase for “hand in hand.” The event is designed to meet some of the basic needs of Brooklyn’s most distressed Jewish populations during Rosh Hashanah, including Holocaust survivors, World War II veterans, and senior citizens.
