Spero News is a conservative catholic news and news analysis website.[1] "Spero" means "I hope" in Latin.

Its content is written primarily by "citizen journalists", which it recruits on the web.[2] Spero News content is frequently [peacock prose] posted to the web versions of major news sources such as the New York Times and the Wall Street Journal[citation needed]. Spero News does not publish a masthead or any information about its editorial policies. According to its own estimates, Spero News currently generates about 100,000 unique visitors per month.[3]

Spero News was launched in April 2005 by Robert Duncan, a blogger based in Madrid, Spain (author of the blog Santificarnos.com), and Clint Gillespie, based in Houston, Texas.[1] Spero News is headquartered at 13430 Sable, Houston, Texas. The Houston-based Spero group, launched in 2002, also includes the sites Daily Estimate and Impact Wire.[4][2][5]
