Hello all! This is my user page. I am a student at Berklee College of Music and I am a double bass and electric bass player. I focus most of my playing in the jazz, RnB, funk and rock idioms.

I have studied electric bass for 9 years and acoustic bass for a little over 2 years. Before my performance focus I produced and recorded my original music.

My Musical Background and Outlook edit

My musical outlook is mainly for music to be an artistic mode of expression and exploration, and as means for the listener and musicians to lose themselves and find themselves again through experiencing it. Because of this, it is easy for me to conclude that I view music less from a commercial or popular perspective, and instead more from a creative, boundary-pushing perspective. I believe that all music is free for any individual to make one’s own conclusions on it, and that the spirit of art is something that is not easily extinguished.

My appreciation for music directly was impacted by the various traditions of which my family has cherished. My mother’s parents were immigrants to the United States from Austria and had a deep, lifelong passion for Austrian and German composers such as Mozart, Haydn, Mahler, J.S. Bach, and Beethoven, as well as American jazz musicians from the 1950s and 1960s such as Bill Evans, Miles Davis, and Dave Brubeck. My father’s Kansas and Arizona-born family loved American styles of music such as country, big band swing, rock, and some RnB. There was a natural overlap of appreciation for all these different forms between my parents and grandparents, and as a result I grew up with all this music playing in the house.
