Robert "Bob" Faith is an American businessman born in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He is the founder, chairman and CEO of Greystar, a real estate firm headquartered in Charleston, South Carolina.[1] They specialize in multifamily real estate property all over the United States, which include Texas, Arizona, Colorado, Georgia, North Carolina, California and more.[2] As well as managing property outside of the US, such as London and Latin America.[3]

Faith attended University of Oklahoma in Norman and graduated with a Bachelors degree in petroleum engineering in 1984, where his goal was to pursue the same career path as his father.[4] During the 1980's, the economy underwent a recession which reduced the demand for engineers causing Faith to go back to school and obtaining his MBA from Harvard Business School in Boston, Massachusetts, in 1986.[5]

Career

Faith joined Trammel Crow, a real estate development company, where he helped expand the company in the management sector.[6] Faith met up with a colleague, Barry Sternlicht, where he became the co founder of Starwood Capital, a private investment firm.[7]

In 1993, Faith founded Greystar, starting out with 9,000 units.[8] In 2003, Wes Fuller was recruited, currently the executive managing director, where Greystar had begin to triple their grow, managing 40,000 units.[9] During the development of Greystar, Faith was also able to assume the the role of Secretary of commerce for South Carolina from 2002 to 2006.[10] The rapid succession of Greystar turned heads, including the National Multifamily Housing Council, who awarded Greystar as the top real estate firm possessing over 200,000 multifamily units in 2014.[11]

In 2015, Faith had done business with Blackstone Group, a financial corporation headquartered in New York City, selling over 10,000 units for $2 billion.[12] A recap on 2016 shows Graystar ranked as the largest real estate firm, managing 400,000 units worth over $14 billion.[13]

International Expansion

The company's success did not stop in North America. In 2013, Greystar managed to break away from the United States, spreading to London and Latin America.[14]

Greystar's first purchase was a student housing portfolio, located in England for roughly $900 million, which included, over 2,300 bed units, a copious amount of amenities, and designated studying spaces for students.[15] Faith had also noticed an opportunity to expand into Mexico City and made an appearance in 2012, but in early 2016, Faith began developing 3,000 units and is been planing to continuously add thousands upon thousands of units each year.[16]

Faith's next big plan kicked off in early January of 2017. His plan's are to progress with the development of Greystar into new areas such as Monterrey, Guadalajara, and others, in hopes of successfully providing quality housing units for residents.[17] It has been documented in 2016 that, Faith plans to expand into South America, but no evidence has been found pertaining to those future quests.[18]
