The kidnapping of Pearl Pinson occurred in Vallejo, California on May 25, 2016. Her kidnapper was 19-year-old Fernando Castro. The next day, Castro was mortally wounded 300 miles (480 kilometres) away in a shootout with law enforcement in Solvang, California after a delayed AMBER Alert was issued.^[1]^[2] Pinson has not been located despite a search that has extended from northwest California to its central coast area.^[2]
