The words listed below were selected from Glossary of environmental science and then listed on a text document. On 12 and 13 July 2008, I used Google to search in turn for each word or series of words. I did not use quotation marks, and I did not use Advanced Search, but I did search with SafeSearch turned on. For the first line, I used the following sequence.
- with the mouse, highlight the word "environment"
- with the mouse, copy the word "environment"
- with the mouse, activate the Web browser
- with the mouse, place the mouse pointer inside the Google text box
- (extra step added after the first line)
- with the mouse, paste the word "environment"
- press the "Enter" key
- with the mouse, highlight the number of results (and the preceding space)
- with the mouse, copy the number and space
- with the mouse, activate the text document
- with the mouse, place the mouse pointer after the word "environment"
- with the mouse, paste the number and space
For the other lines, I used the same sequence, except that I added an extra step.

According to Googleshare, "acid mine drainage" had a Googleshare of "environment" amounting to 207,000 ÷ 465,000,000 ≈ 0.045%. I do not know why "best practice" had a Googleshare of "environment" amounting to 1,140,000,000 ÷ 465,000,000 ≈ 245%.
