Abandoned railway station in Rochestown

Rochestown is primarily a residential suburb of Cork City, with several large housing developments such as Mount Oval having sprung up during the boom times.

An important trunk road passes through Rochestown, linking the area, as well as other villages in the lower harbour area, with Cork City. Rochestown Road also links Douglas village with the South Ring Road (N40).

A railway line connecting Cork City with the lower harbour area once passed through Rochestown. Nothing remains except the embankments and bridges, but these have been developed into a popular walking route, passing along the River Lee.

A small "town centre" type development in Mount Oval.
