Hello, WBTtheFROG here.
My off-wiki work focuses on helping large, distributed groups of people work together effectively to solve complex problems (for example, the challenge of writing the world's most comprehensive encyclopedia). I believe we can improve our society & organizations by tapping the knowledge of a large, diverse set of humans (e. g. members of the organization or society which stands to be improved) to "inform the debate" on policy issues ('policy' meaning a decision where the effects go well beyond the decisionmaker(s)). My favorite film for illustrating this is Connected, the film. Wikipedia is already an excellent demonstration of how to collect distributed knowledge into an outstanding, comprehensive encyclopedia. I have a lot to learn from you all, and some knowledge and skills to contribute back, too.
My contributions & edits will be quite varied, as are my interests. I enjoy photography, travel, arts & music, the outdoors, and adventure. I often explain that my major is in "how computers are changing society" and I have backgrounds both in technical areas and social sciences. I enjoy writing both fiction and non-fiction (clearly demarcated, of course). On-wiki I'll contribute as I see good opportunities for doing so and have time for it.
Feel free to add questions on my talk page! I may not respond quickly, but if your question/comment is substantive I should eventually get back to you.
