A bankruptcy judge in the United States is a federal judicial official who presides over a bankruptcy court. Bankruptcy judges are appointed by the relevant circuit court of appeals for 14-year terms.

The modern office of bankruptcy judge was created by the Bankruptcy Reform Act of 1978, replacing the earlier position of Referee in Bankruptcy.

Bankruptcy judges are represented by the National Conference of Bankruptcy Judges.
