In the diocese of Rome, a regulation dated 7 October 2021 and signed by cardinal Angelo De Donatis the Vicar of Rome stated that in accordance with Traditionis custodes, the five Tridentine Masses celebrated within the diocese of Rome could continue, but that during the Paschal Triduum the masses should be celebrated according to the 1962 missal. However, the letter stated that it was “no longer possible to use the Roman Ritual and other liturgical books of the ‘ancient rite’ for the celebration of sacraments and sacramentals (e.g. not even the Ritual for Reconciliation of Penitents according to the ancient form).” It stated that those rituals were "expressly forbidden and only the use of the Missale Romanum of 1962 remains permitted."[1][2]
