My Life, The Odyssey of a Socially Awkward Boy and his Quest for Confidence

edit

I was born in Lexington, Kentucky on March 12, 1995 to Tammy and Arnold Smith. I was born 2 months prematurely mostly In part of my twin who "stole my food supply." I grew up in Pinsonfork, Kentucky which most people have never heard of because its in the middle of no where. I attended Elementary School at Runyon Elementary home of the viking, while attending Runyon the teacher wanted to hold my brother and I back a year due to our incapable speaking ability due to being born early. My mother wouldn't allow that because she believed in us and wouldn't allow us to get treated unfairly due to a problem which could only be fixed with time. I was participated in a speaking class up until my 6th grade year in which I dropped it due to embarrassment(Mistake on my part).

I continued and I graduated from Elementary School in which began my first real step into life. Middle School, it was by far the toughest time of my life, puberty through me off the popular train within a month of school starting. Acne had consumed my face and forced me to retreat into a closed shell of solitude. Luckily, I had a twin and some very close friends who overall helped me shape my personality into something that I'm proud of to this day. I don't remember much from my Middle School years, I believe that is due to it being the worst part of my life, I mean seriously I'm not joking it, it was a struggle to find myself.

Anyhow, I survived Middle School only to make it to High School, which at the beginning was no better. But, around my junior year I developed confidence and self esteem. Those two things alone launched my entire life into a chapter I'll call Happiness. I was no longer in a shell in which I only confided with my close friends and my brother, I was finally able to communicate on a wide scale. I began to make more friends, I wore a smile on my face at all time, and most importantly my grades began to improve because I began to improve.

But, Alex what in the would could have caused this massive boost of confidence you ask? Well, I believe the confidence came along when I found my first real hobby which was Filmmaking. I began making youtube videos my sophomore year and I would show them to my classmates and that slowly developed into showing the entire class and people really enjoyed them I would have an entire class laughing it was a huge moment for me. I still try to make video to this day, but I find it very hard due to time contriants on things like school stuff and my social life.

I graduated from Belfry High School with Honors in the year 2013. I decided during the midsummer that I would attend The University of Pikeville and while waiting for College to start I got a call in which the Football Coach asked me if I'd be interesting in filming the games. I of course said "yes!". I'm currently on my second my semester of college and I've not made a C grade yet and I'm hopeful it will stay that way.

Technology, The Love that Never Fails

edit

Technology has been a major part of my life for more than half my life. It all started when my parents bought an old Gateway when I was around the age of 7 and since then I've been a technology fanatic. I of course like many kids of todays time started with gaming and that would later evolve into a love for taking apart computers and several attempts to learn code. Technology has always been more of a friend to me, its sheltered me in my periods of social awkwardness. Technology would later prove to be one of the reasons I became comfortable with people, they would react to my videos and it was a huge self esteem booster. I'd be really interesting to see the sort of person I would be if Technology never found its way into my life.

But, along with Computers comes the great and all powerful iPhone, the iPhone is by far one of the easiest devices to keep up with everything happening in the world. It allows to me to read up on how my family is doing as well as letting me check how my stocks are doing all on the fly. Technology is really making the world a better place and I'm very excited to whats the next great invention. (Please be Hovercars)

Wikipedia, The Curiosity Striker

edit

I honestly take Wikipedia for granted, Its finally dawned on me exactly what Wikipedia brings to my life. That is ease to a mass assortment of information I'd otherwise be looking on several sites and even books to figure out. That can't go without saying Wikipedia does an amazing job as a distractor, I can't even recall how many I've been working on a project and have looked at wikipedia for an idea and I end up on a whole different subject due to Wikipedia making its site so easy to navigate. Wikipedia is a major time saver as well, so I'll forgive this one time.

I visit Wikipedia possibly daily, I am a curious person. If I see something anywhere, for example if somebody shirt says something about a company I've never heard off, I can easily and quickly goto Wikipedia and figure out everything I would ever want to know about the company and then some. I do this with the knowledge that anybody can edit Wikipedia and put false information on a page, so if I see something a little farfetched on a wiki page I may take the time and pull up a quick google search to figure out if its for real.

I also do keep away from using wikipedia as a source for research paper, due to it constantly being changed.
