Kita-Kon is a non-profit, fan-run anime convention, hosted by the Lakehead Anime Society. The convention takes place annually in August, most recently at Lakehead University. Kita-Kon hosts a wide variety of programming in several themed rooms, such as viewing rooms, panel/workshop rooms, gaming rooms, and a dealer's room. There are also several special events held throughout the convention such as the cosplay contest and Kokoro Cafe, Kita-Kon's maid cafe.

Programming edit

The event's first year was planned as a small gathering and only had a small amount of content planned such as a Cosplay Contest and Viewing Rooms. The following year the convention expanded to include more content such as a Dealer's Room, Artist Alley, AMV contest, gaming room, and panel & workshop space.

History edit

The first convention was held at Lakehead University in 2007, with conventions being held at the Victoria Inn and Valhalla Inn in subsequent years. In 2012, Kita-Kon returned to Lakehead University after attendance dropped in 2010.[1]
