I am the public affairs officer for the U.S. Pacific Command. Having carefully read the Wikipedia policy regarding conflicts of interest, I want to clearly state that I am not a paid advocate. By U.S. law, public affairs can only release accurate public information. Truthful accuracy is our standard … not “spin.”

I am establishing this account to have an active voice in a very important community of information providers. Many Wikipedia pages already reference public affairs releases and U.S. Government websites run by Public Affairs Officers as verification of accurate information. My goal is to make factually accurate edits in a transparent manner on articles concerning the U.S. Pacific Command and its people. Correcting factual errors in a timely manner is important. Given Wikipedia’s popularity, uncorrected errors can have serious consequences.

I welcome close scrutiny and feedback by the Wikipedia community on edits from this account. I am confident edits will be fully acceptable to the community because they will improve our collective goal of factual accuracy.
