Overview

edit

Chartered in 1905, First State Bank is the oldest state bank in the state of Texas. Furthermore, First State Bank is listed as a subsidiary of Red River Bancorp; its parent holding corporation. With assets in excess of $485 million dollars, it holds the largest market share within Cooke County. Headquartered in Gainesville, Texas; two of eight branches are located there. Six other branches are located among various cities within the North Texas area. These locations include Muenster, Saint Jo, Valley View, Lake Kiowa, and two branches in the city of Denton; thirty miles to the south. First State Bank employs around 150 people across the eight established branches.

First State Bank is also known locally for its active sponsorship of numerous community organizations, school events, and fundraising campaigns. Within Cooke County, specifically, the bank was the largest benefactor in the construction of the new performing arts complex located at North Central Texas College; a community college in Gainesville. In gratitude of this pledge by the bank, the NCTC board of regents named the complex the First State Bank Center for the Performing Arts. As part of its expansion into the Denton area in 2004, First State Bank also became a major sponsor of the University of North Texas' Mean Green Athletic Program. Various employees of the bank are currently or have previously served on community boards and committees, including but not limited to the Gainesville and Denton Chambers of Commerce; United Way Campaign Board; Boy Scouts of America; and Relay for Life events.
