More Than You Wanted To Know

edit

As a complete newbie to the weird, wonderful, and wacky world of all that is Wikipedia, it seems appropriate to spend a little time vandalizing my own talk page before I turn my wandering (and too often wicked) eye to the work of my fine fellow Wikipedans.

In the unlikely event that anyone I please or offend with my future edits wanders this way - and is curious about the fellow who horribly marred and/or marvelously improved up their own work - I suppose I should offer a few personal details: I am an attorney, writer, and small business owner, a former United States Marine, with an obsessive fondness for the arcane and the obscure, hence my interest in this Wiki-madness. I'm also an equally obsessive (and untalented) marathon runner, I collect antiquarian and first edition books for fun and profit, and I have a decidedly odd sense of humor (and judging from the silliness in that first paragraph up there, I may also have a strange fetish for alliteration.

I hope to learn a few things in Wacky Wiki World and - far more importantly - have some fun: at least my idle moments of procrastination might be of some use to someone if I spend that time productively here. It has to be preferable to buying scratch-off lottery tickets and waiting for Jessica Alba to finally return my calls.

Contributions

Have I mentioned that I'm a newbie? Someday, with luck and hard work and the proper aligning of the planets, perhaps I'll have something worth mentioning here. For now, I put up the picture of Jessica. What more do you want from me? Never mind. Apparently that was a no-no, so you don't even get that. You'll just have to wait for my moments of future brilliance. (I'd suggest not holding your breath ... it might be a while ...)

  • My First Contribution: Somehow I managed to (I think?) create an article for myself instead of creating a user page. Impressive, no? It was reverted in roughly six seconds, and another editor moved the text to my user page (where it was indeed meant to be - thank you to that stranger who is probably still chuckling at me ...). Obviously an auspicious beginning for my Wiki editing career. Oh, stop. You're just jealous.
