John M. Phillips is an American sports agent and trial lawyer and the president of BTSA- The Breakthrough Sports Agency. Phillips has used his law degree and background to become one of the most powerful sports attorneys in the business. In 2009 and 2010, Phillips was recognized as the a "Super Lawyer" and because he is under 35 as a "Rising Star," which is limited to 2.5% of the population. In 2009 Phillips was rated as a 10/10 as a trial and sports lawyer and in 2010 was covered in every major paper in the State of Alabama, his home State. [2]. He has negotiated numerous contracts, is one of only a very few (if any) NFL agents to limit his practice to taking no more than 5 clients per year and has represented multiple athletes over his career, including Olympic Gymnast Shannon Miller, NCAA Record Setter Matt Grothe, BCS National Champion Eryk Anders, National Champion and NFL Veteran Eric Curry, and many other in and out of the court room and contract table. He is a certified contract negotiator by the NFLPA, CFLPA and has also represented clients in the UFL. He is a frequent contributor to various radio shows and media publications. He is also a trial attorney with one of the nation's biggest law firms, Morgan & Morgan.
