Thurlapadu is a village located at EastNorth of Chilakaluripet,Guntur District, Edlapadu Mandal, Andhra Pradesh, India.The village is situated at 11 km distance from Chilakaluripet, 29 km from Guntur via prattipadu and 14 Km from Pedanandipadu via Annaparru . It has a population of around 2,000. Most are Hindus, and the most widely speaking language is Telugu some people can also speak English, Hindi and Tamil. The main industry is agriculture, with a focus on [Legumes],[cotton],[ chillies]. The village has one old Sivalayam and Ramalayam and many small temples.VinayakaChaviti, Sankranthi festival is the main events used to celebrate. The village is having a M.P.U.P school with dedicated teachers from 1980's. Sri venkateswarlu garu (Kowsala panthulu Garu), Sivannarayana garu,Narayana garu worked as a teachers for a long time and helped in the development of the village by making many doctors and engineers and other professionals. Now many youngsters are working as Professionals in various cities of India and abroad.

Culture:

Thurlapadu is a vibrant conglomeration of People, culture and Festivals.The pulsating cultural base of Thurlapadu showcases the richness of the Chowdary's. The majestic architecture of the Sivalayam and Ramalayam successfully bear the imprints of the skilled construction abilities of the past rulers of the Thurlapadu.The Festivals of the Thurlapadu depicts the multi-hued tradition of the place.The major Festivals of the Thurlapadu comprises of vinayaka chaviti, Sivarathri, SreeramaNavami, Ugadi , Deepavali and Makara Sankranthi.

Weather :

Climatic conditions in Thurlapadu are extremely hot and the temperatures are very high during the summer season. Summer season in Thurlapadu starts from early March and can go in till June. During this time temperatures can rise up to 38°C. Summer temperatures generally range from a minimum of 32°C to a maximum of 38°C.

Monsoon season brings substantial rainfall. July to October receives the most amount of rainfall. Monsoons bring much needed relief from the heat. November also receives certain amount of rainfall from the North East Monsoon. Temperatures gradually reduce after the monsoons and winters are much milder. Temperatures during the winter usually range in the high twenties. Winter temperatures can range from a minimum of 18°C and can rise up to a maximum of 30°C

Temples

The temples are another place that unified the village. The biggest temples in the village are Ramalayam, Sivalayam ,the temples was built by the people of village at the time British. The design and the art of the temple were beautiful to see, Sivalayam was the largest temple among all the villages around, Sivalayam located at Eastnorth of the village. Ramalayam is the second biggest temple in the village located at center of the village. Recently constructed Sai Baba temple is at near to cheruvukatta and between the way to main center to Gandhi Bommala center. Boddu rai is at the main center of the village In the outskirts of the village, another temples, the village Poleramma thally situated North side of the village and Nagaramma at south side of the village Goddess were rockend, would protect the village from all sinister influences. These goddesses are called village goddesses (Grama Devatalu) .

Agriculture:

Main occupation of people is agriculture, Thurlapdu have around 2500 acres land and this region is one of the most fertile area villages around, the area has many farmlands and paddy fields growing wide varieties of green gram, black gram, red gram, Chick Pea - Bengal gram, Chilli ,Cotton, Paddy and Vegetables like Brinjal/Egg plant, Potato, Bitter gourd, Snake gourd, Ridge gourd, Bottle gourd, Tindoora/Gherkins, Okra, Cucumber, Amaranthus, Sorrel leaves, Curry leaves, Green chilli. Agriculture depends on mainly rain water and water canals. Available water sources two canals Nakka vagu, Annaram vagu ,two sub canals Kishta Kaluva, Rai Kaluva, two Lift irrigations and three water ponds.

Accessibility

Thurlapadu is 11 km distance from Chilakaluripet, 29 km from Guntur via prattipadu and 14 Km from Pedanandipadu via Annaparru. To reach to Thurlapadu from chilakaluripet frequently Autos will be available from Kalamandir Centre. To reach from Guntur side up to Kopparru frequently Government busses and some private Jeeps and Autos available, from Kopparru to Thurlapadu difficult to get Autos most of time sometimes may available but frequently vehicles are traveling between Kopparru to Thurlapadu so can opt for lift. To reach from Pedanandi Padu to Thurlapadu up to Kopparru rarely Autos available but frequently vehicles traveling between Pedanandipadu to Kopparu and Kopparru to Thurlapadu so can opt for lift.

Cuisine

Staple food of local people - rice and vegetables Traditional Andhra meal - generally spicy with a lot of vegetables Special delicacies include Pappu - Toor Daal (Kandi Pappu) or Moong Daal (Pesara pappu) cooked with a vegetable or green, fish, Chicken, mutton and palav, Typical sweetmeats include poornalu, Boorelu, Ariselu, Payasam, Palathalikalu snacks : Bondaalu or Punukulu' with spicy dips , Mirapakaya Bajji - a local variety of extra-hot chillies stuffed with spices and dipped in chick pea batter and fried ,Kaarappoosa, Chekkalu, Sakinalu or Chakkiralu , Pakodi, Boondi ,Gaare - (similar to Vada). Gaares are a deep fried and spiced dough, Perugu gaare Gaare are marinated in a yoghurt sauce.

Facilities

Facilities of primary education MPUP School, RCM Church schools are available in the village. Literacy rate in the village have decreased due to awareness in the people from last one decade. Thurlapadu boys and Girls are getting technical education which helps them in getting good job in Govt, private sector, industries.

For health RMP doctors Dr.Badriah and Dr.MadhavaRao are 24 hours available to help the people and two medical shops Krishna medicals and Current Siviah Medical shop available in center of the village.

For transport only autos available to connect with towns like Chilakaluripet, Guntur, Pedanandipadu.

For General items many petty shops available Punnaiah Kottu at Ramalayam everything general items available and Jilebi is famous at sivarathri month, Chettukinda Nageswararao kottu is at the main center famous for punugulu and Mirchi bajji every day eventing and some other shops at various corners.

For communication most of the people avail with personal mobiles as well as land line phones.

For domestic purposes water facility is available two water ponds one is at the entrance of the village and other one at Palle. Every home is connecting with water pipe lines, regularly one hour water supply facility available by grama panchayath.
