The Thruxton 500

edit

Thruxton Circuit, near Andover in Hampshire, Great Britain, is the fastest racetrack in the UK. Only one motorcycle race a year is now held at Thruxton - a round of the British Superbike Championship but in the 1960's the Thruxton 500 was very important to British motorcycle manufacturers as it was a 500-mile test of their bikes. A win in the Thruxton 500 boosted sales so there was keen competition around the fast and demanding track.

About me

edit

I live in Wales UK, ride a Triumph Rocket 3 and get out on my sea kayak as often as I can. I've set myself the challenge of sorting out all the British motorcycle manufacturers on Wikipedia and as many classic British bikes as I can, so I've created the Category:Motorcycles of the United Kingdom and am working my way through all the stubs and gaps.
