Aether/Ether

edit

Dr Rudolf Steiner (1861 -1925), graduate in science and mathematics, philosopher and inspirational educator, was the first in modern times to emphasize the vital, living quality of the aether. He also designated a system of graded levels of the aether, thereafter known as the Four (A)ethers. These broadly correspond to the four classical elements, four temperaments and four humours, and the different states of matter: solid, liquid, gaseous and plasma.

In this perspective, the quality of aliveness, the difference between an organism and a corpse, is understood as the essential nature of the aetheric or life energy body, the vehicle within which the physical-material body exists and functions.

A compilation, Aether, [1], published in 2006 in both audio CD-ROM and book formats, includes various scientists and other authorities speaking on various aspects of the subject. They include:

Professor Brian Goodwin (biology, Open University, Schumacher College, UK)

Professor Arthur Zajonc (physics, Amherst College, Massachusetts, USA)

Professor Ian J Thompson (nuclear physics, University of Surrey, Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, USA)

Dr Margaret Colquhoun (biologist, Life Science Trust, UK)

Dr Edi Bilimoria (consultant civil engineer)

N C Thomas MIEE (scientist, electrical engineer, mathematician)

Michael Watson MIEE (scientist, electrical/avionics engineer)
