IBM 1460 is a released in 1963^[1] more advanced version of the IBM 1401, and this model came out with twice the performance - only 6 microseconds per cycle. And with it, the record-breaking IBM 1403 Model 3 printer, incredibly fast even by today's standards. He gave out 1100 lines of text per minute^[2].

Compatible systems edit

This model has a full compatibility with IBM 1401 instructions, and has an additional instructions for disk storage support^[5].

The system also could run on an IBM System/360 model 40 using "1460 emulation mode", but with the loss of this feature when the IBM System/360 model 50 computer was installed, it had to be reprogrammed^[6].
