Riverside Pizzeria is a restaurant located in Iron River, Michigan. It opened as a bar in 1946 by World War II veterans and brothers-in-law Nello Silvestrini and Leonard Scalcucci; food was added later.[1] In the 1980s, the restaurant was purchased by the Fritz family, who as of 2020 continues to run it.[2]

The recipes and menu items used by Riverside are essentially the same as those created when the bar introduced food. Their pizzas are cooked in a flattop slate oven at a temperature of 550 °F (288 °C) for about 20 minutes. After the pizza is removed from the over, a second layer of cheese slices is added to the top of the pizza to melt before it is cut into squares for serving. As of 2013, Riverside sells more sausage pizzas than it does pepperoni.[2]

In 2016, MLive acclaimed Riverside as having the second-best pizza in the state of Michigan.[3][4] The restaurant was also recommended by Eater in 2022.[5]
