Dennis Burton is a renowned Professor of Immunology and Microbial Science at the Scripps Research Institute, La Jolla, California, USA. Prof. Burton is a recipient of numerous research grants from the NIH, having published over 400 papers in academic and scientific journals.[1] His key area of research is on infectious disease with a keen interest in the potential of broadly neutralizing antibodies to inform vaccine design. Burton is a popular figure among his peers as a front-runner in AIDS vaccine research and is often said to be a jovial and encouraging personality. He went on to Sweden for his doctorate, where he received a PhD in Physical Biochemistry from Lund University, Sweden; specializing in nuclear magnetic resonance in biology.
