Estrellita de Palma (Margarita Rodríguez Pérez), born in1929 in Palma de Mallorca and died on October 7 , 2020 in Llucmajor, is a Spanish singer of flamenco (or cantaora ), but also of tonadilla and Andalusian copla (also called tonadillera , therefore).

As a performer, she had national success in the 1950s with the paso doble  : Campanera  ,  , a song that would inspire, the following year, in 1956, the plot of Joselito 's first film (the young singer prodigy): El pequeño ruiseñor ( "The little nightingale" ), title of the film in French: Le Petit Vagabond . In the wake of the great success of this film revealing the talent, the voice and the exceptional interpretation of the young actor - a film which also knew how to exploit the narrative potential of the song and its already well-established popularity -, in return the fame of the song will rebound and will be worth to Estrellita a recognition from now on international  .

Daughter of a Majorcan father, Miguel, and a Cadiz mother, Manuela, both artists.

In addition to the tonadillas, She also sang other types of songs such as the pasodoble, the pasadoble, the copla, the bolero, the bayón, and various forms of flamenco (bulerías, flamenco tangos, rumbas...).

She made her debut at the Balearic Theater when she was 7 years old, accompanied by her father on guitar. The mayor of Palma gave her a peseta for her performance.

Se found her greatest success in all of Spain with the pasodoble Campanera (1955), and became internationally famous when this song inspired the plot of Joselito's (the child prodigy singer) first film: The Little Nightingale (1956).
