I looked up Drew Dix, who won the congretional medal of honor for actions during TET 1968. There were things about him and in his citation that didn't jive with what I remember. I have no proof of what I'm about to write. I was the River Patrol Operations officer for COMNAVFORV from the end of April 1968 to April 1969. I met Drew Dix in early Summer of 1968 in Chou Doc the capital of An Gian Porvince in Vietnam on the Bassc River. Today it is apparently called the Han River. What I was told at the time was when the VC attacked Cho Duc that Drew Dix and a group of Chinse mercenaries along with SEAL Team 6, drove the VC out of Cho Duc and it was for this action that Drew was awarded the Medal of Honor. Also, in his citation it is mentioned that he rescued an American nurse who was living in Cho Duc at that time. She was Maggie O'Brien. I was told by another Naval Officer that it was Dick Marcinko and SEAT Team Six who did that rescue.
