The Claverham Monacle is a satirical news chat show on Youtube, hosted by Axel Houston and Byron Kroon.
Origins
editThe name Claverham Monacle is a parody of the college newspaper The Claverham Chronicle[1]. However it has no affiliation with the publication. The first episode, 'Daily News with James Episode 1' was published on March 30 2011. The hosts promise in the video description that the video is "the first of many"
Host Identity
editAxel Houston is always referred to as his real name, but Byron Kroon holds a different pseudonym for each edition, such as James Rivett, Daniel Mcconkey or the like.
Content & Format
editThe show is filmed using a screen capture of the PC game League of Legends, with voice audio also captured as the hosts play. Axel Houston reads out current affair headlines, with both hosts adding comment or the occasional rant from Byron Kroon.
Spin Offs
editQuestion Time with Byron
editQuestion Time with Byron [2] is presented by Axel Houston and is the only episode to feature Byron's true-ego. The show consists of user questions that are posted in the comment section of each video. Byron's answers tend to be uninterested and detached.
