Daniel Pienaar Technical High School was founded by Reverend Josua Daniel Pienaar on 10 April 1895. The purpose of this new school was to provide in the needs for technical education in the Eastern Cape. It was the first school to be established with this purpose in South Africa.

New Beginings

By 1965 the school outgrew the buildings along the Swartkops river and funds were aquired to construct a new school on property provided by the Department of education.

Emblem

The emblem consists of four main parts:

• The cog symbolises the technical nature of education.

• The book
• The church tower illustrates the christian values in which it was founded
• The motto, "Omnino Paratus" is latin for "Fuly Prepared"
