C.S.I Christ church(Missionary Church),Cuddalore Port
It is started in the beginning of 18th Century .It was started by Bartholomaus Ziegenbalg ,First Protestent Missionary Landed in 1706 at Tranquebar.he travel through Cuddalore he look the suitation of the people and many of the People were illiterate so let them education by light there Life with education.He started a Primary school at Cuddalore port(still giving education to poor people) in 1717.That school is named as S.P.G Mission . Later Ziegenbalg started a church in same premises on the background of Lutheran way.later It is most powerful Church of those days in South Arcot state.Sir.Robert Clive.Esq, Governor General who maintain the Church under his full control.His house has also beside near the Church. After it captured by mugals it is used as weapon Goodown and after the independence it is joined to United Protestent Churches.It is handed over to Church Of South India a powerful Mission started at Madras St.George Cathedral.now it is one of the Church in Church Of South India. A Special proud to this Church is because of it's History and cemetery.yes,this church is built on Graveyard .17 Cemeteries are on the floor of the church in the worshiping space.Many Rev.,Many Missionaries ,Captions, Military mens, Officer,Mercents (Thomas Parry) who were worked here to make the people to be a literate and help them to lift up by enhancing them on the society.Hence This Church has a powerful background of British People and missionaries.it is one of the Historical place in Cuddalore.
