Since this list was deleted, originally found at Zanpakutō (Bleach), I've taken the liberty of reassembling it myself and preserving it on one of my userpages. The page with the information was completely wiped from the database, meaning I couldn't just copy-paste the list from another diff; rather, I had to write every entry one by one. I've made a few changes to make it more to my liking; Benihiko and Suzumushi are separated, and Saigyoku Nijigasumi is classified as a bankai, among other things. I haven't done all of the Arrancar releases yet.

List of Zanpakutō edit

Ashisogi Jizō edit

  • Name: Ashisogi Jizō (疋殺地蔵, lit. "Ksitigarbha's killer head")
Release command: "rip" (掻き毟れ, kakimushire)
Shikai: Ashisogi Jizō's blade transforms into a deformed trident head with curved, serpentine blades and a guard shaped like a baby's head, all mounted on his sword's normal hilt. The weapon spews a poisonous vapor and when Ashisogi Jizō stabs an opponent, the poison cuts off the nerve signals that control limb movement, effectively causing paralysis while allowing the victim to still feel pain. During the Bount arc, it is shown that healing the stab wound doesn't immediately remove the inflicted paralysis.
Bankai: Named Konjiki Ashisogi Jizō (金色疋殺地蔵, lit. "Ksitigarbha's golden killer head"), Ashisogi Jizō produces a giant caterpillar in a red cape with a grotesque baby's head and a silver halo. Numerous blades can also extend from its chest and sides. The creature breathes a poisonous derivative of Mayuri's blood which is lethal to anyone who breathes it, aside from Mayuri and Nemu.

Benihikō edit

  • Name: Benihikō (紅飛蝗, lit. "crimson grasshopper")
Release command: "smash his limbs" (四肢を潰すよ, shishi o tsubusu yo)

Benihime edit

  • Name: Benihime (紅姫, lit. "crimson princess")
Release command: "awaken" (起きろ, okiro)
Shikai: Benihime's blade becomes wider than that of his sealed zanpakutō and the hilt curves, adding a crimson ribbon and other elaborate decorations around it. In this form, Benihime has two abilities, both activated with the command "sing" (啼け, nake). Benihime's defensive ability forms a crimson polygonal barrier in front of Urahara. Its offensive ability fires a crimson-colored energy blast which is similar to a cero by Urahara's own admission.[1].

Benishidare edit

  • Name: Benishidare (紅枝垂, lit. "crimson weeping bough")
Release command: "bloom madly" (咲き乱れ, sakimidare)
Shikai: Benishidare takes the form of a long black sword with five flowers attached to it; two flowers on either side and one on the tip. Benishidare's flowers release a pollen which causes more flowers to bloom on his opponent's weapon, rendering it useless. The flowers will wither if the pollen is blown away. Kenryū can also scatter the flowers on the blade to blind an enemy, and with the command "fall as flowers do" (散華, sange), Benishidare can turn its petals into blade sized pink energy needles which rain down on the target.

Daichimaru edit

  • Name: Daichimaru (代地丸, lit. "the land")
Release command: "rock" (ゆらす, yurasu)

Ruri'iro Kujaku edit

  • Name: Ruri'iro Kujaku (瑠璃色孔雀, lit. "azure peacock")
Release command: "tear and deviate" (裂き狂え, sakikurue)
Shikai: With the command "bloom" (咲け, sake) and the name Fujikujaku (藤孔雀, lit. "wisteria peacock"), Ruri'iro Kujaku takes the form of a sickle-shaped blade, distinguished from the khopesh by the cutting edge being located on the inside. A hinge at the hilt allows it to split into four identical blades. With the real command and name, Ruri'iro Kujaku's blades become vines that wrap the foe and eventually sprout flowers, draining the opponent's spiritual pressure and replenishing Yumichika's own as the flowers grow.

Gegetsuburi edit

Release command: "crush" (打っ潰せ, buttsubuse)

Bankai: Named Ryūmon Hōzukimaru (龍紋鬼灯丸, lit. "dragon crest demon light"), Hōzukimaru takes the form of three oversized weapons: a blade resembling a Monk's spade in his right hand, another resembling a guandao in his left, and a fan-shaped blade, adorned with a carving of a Chinese dragon, which floats behind him, all connected by lengths of thick chain that Ikkaku can wield with ease. Because Hōzukimaru is a "lazy bum" by Ikkaku's own admission, it takes time to reach its full power; as time passes, the dragon crest engraved in the middle weapon will slowly begin to glow crimson, increasing its power as it does so.

Hyōrinmaru edit

  • Name: Hyōrinmaru (氷輪丸, lit. "ice ring")
Release command: "reign over the frosted heavens" (霜天に坐せ, sōten ni zase)
Shikai: Hyōrinmaru itself remains the same, but gains a crescent-shaped blade attached to the hilt by a chain. The slashes created by Hyōrinmaru in shikai give off an immense amount of spirit power which overflows from the tip of the blade, creating a flow of ice vaguely shaped like Hyōrinmaru's dragon spirit. The dragon flies at opponents and instantly freezes anything it touches. The chain-blade also freezes anything Hitsugaya traps with it.
Bankai: Named Dai Guren Hyōrinmaru (大紅蓮氷輪丸, lit. "great crimson lotus ice ring"), Hyōrinmaru causes ice to flow from Hyōrinmaru onto Hitsugaya, forming into two large wings and a tail. Ice also forms into a dragon's head around his sword hand, encasing it up to the hilt; which is in the shape of an eight-pointed star. Three "flowers" made of ice, composed of four petals each, float behind Hitsugaya. Hyōrinmaru's bankai has two known special techniques. The first is ryūsenka (竜霰花, lit. "dragon hail flower"), which freezes any enemy Hitsugaya stabs, locking them into a cocoon of ice and freezing them to the core. Once frozen, Hitsugaya can shatter his opponent. The second is sennen hyōrō (千年氷牢, lit. "thousand-year ice prison"),[3] which forms a multitude of ice pillars using the moisture in the atmosphere. These pillars then envelop the enemy and freeze them.[4]

Itegumo edit

  • Name: Itegumo (凍雲, lit. "frozen cloud")
Release command: "run" (奔れ, hashire)
Shikai: Two smaller blades protrude from Itegumo's hilt at 45° angles.

Shikai: Katen Kyōkotsu transforms into two large scimitars or falchions. Katen Kyōkotsu has the ability to "make children's games real". All of it's abilities are referred to as games. One of its games, "Lazy Top" (不精独楽, Bushō koma), creates wind blades that join together, forming a spinning circle of wind around the opponent. The rules of another game, "Mountain Demon" (嶄鬼, Takaoni), is that the "person higher up" wins. "Shadow Demon" (影鬼, Kageoni) plays with shadows. The person whose shadow is stepped on loses. This game allows the players to manipulate shadows, such as when Shunsui hides in them and uses them to attack his opponent. "Colorful Demon" (色鬼, Irooni) is a color-based game. You call out the color you want to cut and can't cut anything else. The damage of the cut corresponds wit the amount of the color: if you call out a color that you're wearing a minimal amount of, the damage is minimal. The damage of the attack is proportionate to the amount of the color the attacker is wearing, even if the attack would normally inflict less severe damage.

Kyōka Suigetsu edit

  • Name: Kyōka Suigetsu (鏡花水月, lit. "mirror flower water moon")
Release command: "shatter" (砕けろ, kudakero)
Shikai: Although the sword itself is unchanged, Kyōka Suigetsu's shikai places anyone who sees it under a state of "absolute hypnosis" (完全催眠, kanzen saimin), after which Aizen can make them see, hear, and feel whatever he wants. According to Aizen, the hypnosis is unbreakable, even if the target is aware that they are hypnotized.

Bankai: Nijigasumi's bankai, Saigyoku Nijigasumi (彩玉虹霞, roughly "colored orb rainbow mist"), creates an orb of light around an opponent, blinding and crushing them.

Raika edit

  • Name: Raika (雷火, lit. "thundering flame")
Release command: "sever" (たちきれ, tachikire)
Shikai: Amagai's zanpakutō takes the form of a white longsword with a hook at the end and curved pipes that form a basket hilt around the handle. The pipes emit fire, heating the blade and causing it to take on a more fiery color if he wishes. Amagai can focus fireballs into the crux of the hook, which he then slams into the ground to create a large fissure of fire.
Bankai: Raika Gouen Kaku (雷火豪炎殻, literally "lightning flash flame shell") enlarges the blade and creates a giant conch-shaped pauldron worn across Amagai's arm, with the handle of the blade hidden inside it. The sheer power of the flame can disintegrate almost anything the sword is waved at. Yamamoto can also use error: {{nihongo}}: Japanese or romaji text required (help) to create a sphere of flame to imprison his enemies.
Bankai: "Zanka no Tachi" (残火の太刀?, lit. "Long Sword of the Remnant Flame") upon release causes all of the flames produced by Yamamoto to disappear into the blade. The bankai is comprised of four abilities based on the cardinal points:

"Zanka no Tachi - Higashi (East): Kyokujitsujin" (残火の太刀・東 旭日刃?) in which all the flames are concentrated on the edge of the blade, incinerating everything it touches "Zanka no Tachi - Nishi (West): Zanjitsu Gokui" (残火の太刀・西 残日獄衣?) where Yamamoto envelops his whole body in flames, reaching up to 15,000,000 degrees "Zanka no Tachi - Minami (South): Kakajuuman' Okushi Daisoujin" (残火の太刀・南 火火十万億死大葬陣?) - this techique resurrects the burned and incinerated dead which were struck down by the blade using its burning state, it is roughly translated to "great army of the 10 trillion buried by flames". "Zanka no Tachi - Kita (North): Tenchi Kaijin" (残火の太刀・北 天地灰燼?) - a powerful slash attack, incinerating everything in one fell swoop. Translated as "heaven and earth are burned to ashes".

  • Name: Senbonzakura (千本桜, lit. "thousand cherry blossoms").
Release command: "scatter" (散れ, chire)

Bankai: Named Senbonzakura Kageyoshi (千本桜景厳, lit. "vibrant display of a thousand cherry blossoms"), the effects of Senbonzakura's bankai are dependent on the form used. The first form, "massacre scene" (殲景, senkei), unites the scattered petals into complete swords that form four rows around Byakuya and his opponent. The swords can be directed like the regular blades, but Byakuya tends to fight with only one in hand. After immobilizing an opponent, he can call in the other blades to hit them while they're trapped. To overwhelm the defense of an opponent, Byakuya can use "pivotal scene" (吭景, gōkei). This aligns every blade in a spherical formation around his opponent, which then collapses into them from every possible angle, leaving no blind spots and no chance to escape.[6] Finally, when Byakuya is weakened, he can use "final scene" (終景, shūkei). This condenses every one of his blades into a single sword, drastically increasing its cutting power. The blade appears bright white and its aura takes the form of a bird, earning it the name "white imperial sword" (白帝剣, hakuteiken). Byakuya also grows pure white wings and a halo-like circle in the back, both made of spiritual power.[7]

Gin also stated that his bankai doesn't extend as far as he claims but does so in order to keep hos enemy guessing. However, the bankai special ability "Kill, God-Killing Spear" (殺せ, 神殺鎗, Korose, Kamishini no Yari), is not the distance or speed, but rather the ability of turning into dust for a second in-between of contracting and expanding. There is a deadly poison inside the blade that dissolves and breaks down cells. He can leave a sliver of his Zanpakuto in an opponent when he retracts Kamishini no Yari, allowing him to kill an opponent at any time when he chooses to by uttering the technique name, while placing his hand up to the target. The result causes the target to completely break down and dissolve at the cellular level from the inside out.[8]

At full power, it is able to shoot energy bolts similar to getsuga tenshō blasts.

Kakuyoku edit

  • Name: Kakuyoku (角翼, lit. "horned wings")
Abilities: Kakuyoku takes the form of an oversized guandao. When swung, it fires energy blasts which solidify into rock walls. It also allows the user to merge with the walls and hide for a surprise attack.

Retsurai edit

  • Name: Retsurai (烈雷, lit. "furious lightning")
Abilities: Retsurai takes the form of a "reaper" scythe, with protrusions over the edges. When eaten, it causes blades to form on the user's back which can be fired at will, and if eaten again it will refill/add to the blades. It also seems to increase the user's speed tremendously, and cause spikes to protrude out of the user's body.

Shiragiri edit

  • Name: Shiragiri (白霧, lit. "white mist")
Abilities: Shiragiri takes the form of a "normal" katana with protrusions along the edge of the blade. It has the ability to create mist, and turn the user into mist as well and solidify so it can attack.
