I'm Susan Whitfield and I work for the International Dunhuang Project (IDP) at the British Library as IDP Director. IDP is an international collaborative effort to conserve, catalogue and digitise manuscripts, printed texts, paintings, textiles and archaeological artefacts from Dunhuang and archaeological sites of the eastern Silk Road (Chinese Central Asia), and to make images and information freely available online to all via multilingual IDP websites. Apart from my research on the Silk Road collections worldwide, including curating several exhibitions, I am interested in the history and historiography of China and the Silk Road. My main publications are listed on my research profile on IDP.
