The Idaho Accelerator Center

History

edit

The Idaho Accelerator Center, often called the I.A.C., was started in 1994 when the State of Idaho created it as a research center.[1] The I.A.C. was developed from Idaho State Universities "Nuclear Science Application Project."[1] The mission of the Nuclear Science Application project was to develop strength in Nuclear Based Applied Research, and remains a core focus of the I.A.C.[1]

The Idaho Accelerator Center completed construction of their own research laboratory in October of 1998, and have since had two major additions. Additional laboratories and offices were built in 2004 and again in 2010 to accommodation additional research staff and accelerators. The laboratory space including both additions totals to ************Get square footage*************.

Personal Notes to Readers

Any and all advice about this page is welcome. This is a work in progress and will probably be over a year in completion once all of the items needed for publication are completed. We hope to include a section about the history of the center, as summary of some of the research that may be interesting to the general public, a list of the accelerators in operation, a section on the history of each machine, as well as a summary of its operating parameters, and a section on press coverage of the IAC. Let me know if you think anything else should be added, or if you see a problem in my text. Thanks.
