Anderson edit

I hope you're OK with these changes. Cheers, Pdfpdf (talk) 13:29, 4 January 2010 (UTC)

Fine & thanks for asking. Initially I made more additions than just the VC citation but they got over-ridden (and I lost them) when you and I were both editing that page at the same time. I redid the citation but didn't bother with the other detail about the Muar River campaign but I might get back to it. -Sticks66 06:06, 7 January 2010 (UTC)
"but they got over-ridden (and I lost them) when you and I were both editing that page at the same time." - Hmmm. I seem to be good at clobbering your work via edit conflicts. My apologies (again). "but I might get back to it." - That would be good. Cheers, Pdfpdf (talk) 09:05, 7 January 2010 (UTC)

List of Australia national rugby league team players‎; edit

Hey Sticks. I believe that on the List of Australia national rugby league team players‎ the club name that appears should correspond with the year alongside it. Please reply at the list's talk page.--Jeff79 (talk) 12:57, 14 January 2010 (UTC)

DCI edit

"I see you've added Hugh Duffy (rugby) here as a Scottish DCI."

Okay, it took me about five minutes to work out that DCI was a reference to Dual-Coders and not Detective Chief Inspector (joke). If I remember rightly, the info was mostly from Bath's "Scotland Rugby Miscellany". Looking at the articles again, I suspect that Hugh Duffy was a dual coder, but that McLaren probably not.

With some of these dual coders, I suppose it depends whether one considers the Other Nationalities rugby league team to be a "national" side. I would, even though it's obviously not a single nation.--MacRusgail (talk) 16:13, 24 February 2010 (UTC)

Clarrie Wallach edit

Looked him up on the Commonwealth War Graves Commission - here - where he is listed under Clarence Wallach. Was Neville his middle name, or Clarence/Clarrie an adopted name do you think?--MacRusgail (talk) 15:15, 9 March 2010 (UTC) p.s. the D.O.D. given was on the article before I started editing it, so I don't know where it came from.

A better way? edit

Mockeridge edit

I think so, yes - certainly no person of that name has ever played RU for England - looks like clear-cut vandalism to me. --Bcp67 (talk) 18:53, 26 May 2010 (UTC)

Herbert "Nutsy" Bolt edit

Hello,

I thank you for creating the page to Herbert Bolt. Herbert is my great grandfather and we are fortunate enough to be taking my mother (Herbert's granddaughter) to Fromelles for Herbert's burial on 19 July 2010.

I have uploaded to this page a photo of Herbert, with Jennie and baby Mona. I always feel it is nice to put a brave face to the name.

Warm regards,

John Barnett edit

Hi Sticks66, John Barnett is my great uncle. My family is very interested in the history of our family and John Barnett is especially interesting because of his Olympic win. My Aunty tried to track down his medal which apparantly has been passed down on John Barnett's wife's side of the family. We believe the medal was given to John Barnett's only daughter who then gave it to her only daughter and then it was given to her grandson but we can't track him down. My Mum would like a photo of the medal to add to the family history. Can you help us track down the medal? Sorry for the long story!! Also, Mum has a copy of John Barnett's death certificate if you would like it. erica.e.fletcher@gmail.com Danceblue72 (talk) 02:00, 1 June 2010 (UTC)

Blair Swannell edit

Hi Sticks, wonder if you can help me with the above article. I'm fairly sure he was mentioned a few times in Herbert Moran's book 'Viewless Winds', and not in glowing terms either. I don't suppose you have the book on you to back up my recollections. Cheers, FruitMonkey (talk) 21:29, 30 August 2010 (UTC)

RL Players edit

Hi there, I've been trying to reference or delete all unreferenced biographies of living people. I've got the Australian list down from over 400 in August to about 150 now. I've been tracking what articles are left, and I've now completed all of the sporting ones... except for about 22 rugby league players. I'm finding them very hard to reference, as I don't know which of stats.rleague.com, yesterday's heroes or rugbyleagueproject are really reliable or complete. I see in the Ed Fry article that you quote from an Encyclopedia of rugby league players. Could I ask a huge favour of you and request that you complete the referencing of the remaining players? At the moment the list is:

  1. Jim Pizanias has not played 1st grade in Australia (or anywhere else); I have no interest in this article
  2. John Coveney expand & needs infobox
  3. Josh Lewis (rugby league footballer)
  4. Keith Agget
  5. Ken Ashcroft
  6. Lee Rose (rugby league)
  7. Malcolm Clift expand coaching career
  8. Matt Bickerstaff
  9. Matthew Wurth
  10. Michael Henderson (rugby league)
  11. Mick Mullane expand
  12. Mike Wylie
  13. Nick Yakich expand
  14. Norm Rogers (rugby league)
  15. Peter Wright (rugby league)
  16. Rex Wright copy edit
  17. Rod Wright
  18. Ron Costello
  19. Ron Saddler
  20. Russell Wyer
  21. Sid Hobson
  22. Tony Mestrov

As someone who only watches some highlights of the NRL Grand Final each year, and "aerial ping pong" the rest of the time, it's been tough trying to reference people that I have no idea about. I have asked at the Aust RL WikiProject in the past, and got not much action, so anything you can do will be greatly appreciated. If you like doing this sort of thing then there are the 79 players on the International RL list, or plenty lists of UBLPs by sport or almost any other topic you can think of. Cheers, The-Pope (talk) 14:40, 7 October 2010 (UTC)

I'll add a published source ref to most of them but won't go down the track of the 79. I'll expand those for whom there's any worthy detail but working on articles of players with fleeting careers isn't really my bag -Sticks66 08:01, 10 October 2010 (UTC)

The Australian Kangaroos before the 1st Test in Sydney June 6, 1932 edit

Hi there

I am not sure if you can help me, I am hoping very much that you can. I am currently researching my Husband's Grandfather Abe Hall, who had quite a successful career when he played. He in fact is in the photo you have displayed here on Wikipedia. I know this to be my husband's grandfather as we have a photo of the team with their coach and selector in their Australian Jersey's for a group photo. It says on the pic: "Battle of Brisbane" The Australian Rugby League Test Team 1932. All the same player's names etc. The only difference is that in your photo he is "unknown" I would like to help my Husband find out more information on Abe Hall and thus far your photo is all i have managed to find. In your Photo Abe Hall is the third last person in the line up just for your curiosity :)

Do you happen to have any idea why Abe would be "unknown" ? I'm not expecting miracles just would like to get as much info on him as i can so that my husband has some history of his football career and also ensure that his name gets put on the squad's list just like everyone else. (Any ideas on where i could start this process?) Thanks for taking the time to read this and any info no matter how small you may think it is, will be huge to both of us :) I will be contacting others as well to try and get as much information as i can.

William Thornton Watson edit

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a search with the contents of William Thornton Watson, and it appears to be very similar to another Wikipedia page: Bill Watson (rugby). It is possible that you have accidentally duplicated contents, or made an error while creating the page— you might want to look at the pages and see if that is the case. If you are intentionally trying to rename an article, please see Help:Moving a page for instructions on how to do this without copying and pasting. If you are trying to move or copy content from one article to a different one, please see Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia and be sure you have acknowledged the duplication of material in an edit summary to preserve attribution history.

It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. CorenSearchBot (talk) 12:51, 5 July 2011 (UTC)

This message is due to a cut and paste move you performed. I requested a history merge to keep attribution and the article history together.--NortyNort (Holla) 12:32, 7 July 2011 (UTC)
When you move a page, you are supposed use the move button, not copy the text into the desired target and redirect the old. When a cut and paste move is performed, it keep the old page history at the redirect and attribution for the article is broken. A more detail explanation can be found here.--NortyNort (Holla) 21:40, 7 July 2011 (UTC)
There are pictures and a step-by-step here. It's part of a drop down on the upper-right part of an article during normal view. I'll be honest, it took me a month at first to understand there was a "move" and not "rename" function.--NortyNort (Holla) 08:09, 8 July 2011 (UTC)

Bulimba Cup edit

Hello! Saw a recent message re your Gregory's Guide to RL. I hope I'm not being forward in asking if you could confirm some information. You see, there seems to be some confusion over which years Ipswich won the cup. Some (including the wikipedia article) say 57-58, while others (such as Noel Kelly's biography) say 58-59) I'm trying to get the local library to order in this book: http://trove.nla.gov.au/work/36317770?q=subject%3A%22Bulimba+Cup+-+History.%22&c=book or maybe a trip to brisby to the UQ library might be in order. In the interim, any help would be greatly appreciated. Doctorhawkes (talk) 03:17, 9 November 2011 (UTC)

Thanks heaps. Doctorhawkes (talk) 01:05, 10 November 2011 (UTC)

As a regular contributor to the NSW Head of the River page, is there any chance that you could split the women's rowing history into a separate page?

If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. Please add this information by editing the image description page.

Thanks for the fast turn-around, can you take a look over you other contributions and add {{information}}, Also it would be hlpeful if you could add the approximate date of the originals as well the upload?crop. Thanks Sfan00 IMG (talk) 14:24, 14 September 2015 (UTC)

Better source request for File:CyrilTowers.jpg edit

Thanks for your upload to Wikipedia:

You provided a source, but it is difficult for other users to examine the copyright status of the image because the source is incomplete. Please consider clarifying the exact source so that the copyright status may be checked more easily. It is best to specify the exact Web page where you found the image, rather than only giving the source domain or the URL of the image file itself. Please update the image description with a URL that will be more helpful to other users in determining the copyright status.

Here's the source for the Towers shot [1]. I have added attached the source data attached to the image file. I stand by the PD Aus permission, as the photograph was taken in Australia before 1955.-12:42, 15 September 2015 (UTC)

Here's the source for the Davis' shot of Lawton in action at Twickenham. [2] I have attached same to the image file. I have amended the PD rationale to a UK PD rationale since the image was taken at Twickenham when Davis accompanied the Waratahs on the 1928 tour. John Corbett Davis died in 1941, we are now 70 years plus since then. -Sticks66 12:50, 15 September 2015 (UTC)
