My wikipedia user name is actually my real, meatspace name (actually "Stephen" but everybody either calls me Steve, McGrew, or mcgrew). I usually post to discussion boards as "mcgrew". I'm not the comedian from Denver, I'm an ordianary guy from Illinois. My public (throw-away) email address is presently sm62704@yahoo.com.

I've used Wikipedia quite a bit, but never edited until today when I changed (before I signed up) the article on cataracts; I just had the multifocal IOD inserted in my left eye. I changed the sentence "New FDA approved multifocal intraocular lens implants allow post operative cataract patients the advantage of nearly glass free vision." to "New FDA approved multifocal intraocular lens implants allow most post operative cataract patients the advantage of glass free vision." A minor nit, but more accurate. It isn't even a month since surgery and I can read the date on a dime, and my distance vision in that eye is now 20-16, better than 20-20. A little googling shows that most users of this device have 20-25 or better vision after the surgery.

I'm not sure where to add this information to Wikipedia (I'm new at this), but these new IODs cure cataracts, myopia, presbyopia, and astigmatism. The older, traditional IODs cure three of those conditions, but one must choose whether he or she wants to wear glasses for distance or closeup.

I'm sure I'll edit this page later and remove some of this, but as I said, I'm new at editing here.
