The Heist 2 is a Flash-based game created by Johnny Two Shoes as a commission for AddictingGames, a Viacom company. The Heist 2, the sequel to The Heist, was released in July 2009.

Plot edit

Once again you and your crew have returned to The Hideout to begin a grand scheme: collect 5 million credits from a series of heists. Sal the auto expert, Meghan the specialist manager, and Lester the mission manager[1] assist in getting you on your feet. The heists begin at the convenience store and the pawn shop, but these mission grow in size to include a mansion, a museum, and an art gallery. But they dont stop there. As your crew grows, they try to take down "Casino Heist", a diamond exhibition, and a mission only known as "Gold".

Gameplay edit

The Heist 2 was the first Johnny Two Shoes game to feature a new studio introduction, featuring a spaceman. This spaceman has become the face of the company.

The Heist 2 has three main components: management, robbery, and get-away.

Management edit

The main screen, a garage known as "The Hideout", is where users can manage their crew. Three actions can be taken from The Hideout: upgrading the get-away car, hiring crew, and selecting missions to complete. Users can upgrade the armor, engine, and weapons on their current vehicle, or buy a new vehicles. Buying new vehicles allows for faster travel, room for more crew members, and new weapons.

Crew members are managed from the "Specialists" screen. Here, users can hire different types of specialists. There are 5 types of specialists: Planning, Hacker, Muscle, Safe Cracker, and Con Artist.[2] Each crew member also has experience, weapon, and health levels that vary. These levels are raised when crew members successfully complete a heist. Each crew member carries a weapon into each heist, which can be upgraded. The default weapon is the Beretta, while upgrades range from shotguns to sniper rifles.[3] An infinite amount of specialists can be hired if the user has the funds, but only a limited amount of the specialists can be selected for the heist because of the space limitations of the vehicle. Developer Maxwell Scoot-Slade invited Johnny Two Shoes users to create surnames for the specialists, some of which were used.[4]

Lastly, missions can be selected from The Hideout. Each mission requires a certain type of specialist, a minimum crew size, or a combination of the two. The missions, which range from pawn shops to diamond exhibitions, have a goal amount of credits that needs to be reached in order to unlock the next heist. Difficultly also increased with each mission, meaning more advanced missions have more cops with heavier guns waiting to arrest the crew.

Robbery edit

The robbery runs off a unique engine created by Johnny Two Shoes specifically for The Heist 2. The crew exits their vehicle and enters the chosen target, beginning the heist. The police can be alerted in several ways of the ongoing heist. First, if a crew member cannot calm a hostage or security guard, the police will be alerted. Also, should a crew member fail to hack an alarm, it will be set off. Lastly, if none of the above occur, an alarm is sent out after a given amount of time.

Once the crew collects all the money, or credits, from the target, they will exit the building and return to their vehicle. The player can call out their crew before they get all the credit possible from the target. The crew does not have a free escape though. Once an alarm is sounded, police will arrive, blocking the crew's escape. As the missions become harder, the escapes become harder; more cops will arrive with heavier guns. The crew and police exchange fire when the crew tries to escape. Police officers and members of the crew can died during the robbery. Deceased members of the crew are permanently lost from the game, including the successive get-away.[5]

Get-Away edit

After the crew escapes the robbery scene, they must run back to The Hideout without being killed by the police. The police vehicles depend on the difficulty of the heist. The vehicles, styled after those of the British police, range from panda cars to road policing units to SWAT vans. The police vehicles have the ability to shoot at the crew's vehicle, and have the ability to kill crew members while in pursuit. The crew also can fire back using the weapons they carried during the robbery, killing officers and disabling their vehicles. If a police vehicle takes enough damage, it blows up. Likewise, if the crew's vehicle takes enough damage, the vehicle will blow up and the mission is over, a failure. Civilian vehicles also take damage and can blow up.

The get-away is based off of the SandStorm and High Speed Chase2 engines. The Heist 2 has the unique feature of bridges and narrowing and widening roads. Like The Heist, The Heist 2 also has intersections and ramps vehicles can jump off of. When a vehicle hits a ramp, it can bunny hop on other vehicles and cross the median. The player can force other vehicles on the ramp and send them flying.

Credits can also be earned during the get-away. Credits are earned when: the crew's vehicle reaches top speed, when the vehicle gains air-time, and when a cop car is disabled. Combos of these actions result in more credits. If a civilian vehicle is destroyed, all credits earned in the active combo are lost.

Missions edit

There are 12 missions in The Heist 2[6]. Each mission has unique artwork and scenery designed for that mission. The missions are:
