Guianeya "GiGi" Diaz born in Cuba in 1985 is a Cuban-American model and variety show host that became a local Miami celebrity at age 15 when she starred in the Santa's Enchanted Forest at Tropical Park TV commercial [1].

In Cuba she received training at ICRT (Instituto Cubano de Radio y Televisión) and later migrated to the USA and adopted American culture while furthering her education. She is empowered by a diverse background and experiences that allow her to relate to both cultures, making her writing and reporting styles acceptable to all.

Guianeya is a Florida International University graduate with a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology; an academic foundation that has given her great research skills as well as the ability to understand, relate to, and communicate with groups of all different cultural backgrounds; something that has proven to be very useful in her career.

GiGi’s Journalism

Guianeya Diaz, or GiGi (with two capital G's) as friends and co-workers have nicknamed her, has shown an interest for all things journalism from a very young age. She become cofounder of the publication En Contacto Newspaper. There GiGi worked as graphic designer, writer, and often as sales rep, and had the opportunity to conduct interviews for her columns with celebrities such as Cristina Saralegui, Paulina Rubio, Pedro Moreno, Jencarlos Canela, Jordi, among many others.

She made a journalism internship with Telemundo Network where she earned the opportunity to work closely with professionals such as Jose Diaz-Balart, Maria Celeste Arraras[2]. She worked as Field Producer for the network’s national news cast Noticiero Telemundo as well as Al Rojo Vivo for numerous pieces and live shots.

GiGi has been chosen to host numerous television programs reporting on local news as well entertainment pieces; hosting; and interviewing personalities in the entertainment field- Rakim y Ken-Y[3], Tiempo Libre, Vacilos[4], and Tito Puente, Jr.[5] as well as politicians such as and Governor Christine Todd Whitman, and Mayor Julio Robaina.

GiGi writes for publications such as Libertad, Tiempo Nuevo, and La Voz de la Calle touching on varied socially relevant topics with each article. She is also the Trackside Reporter for the Isle Casino Racing in Pompano Beach Florida, and freelance reporter for programs such as Miami Hoy.

GiGi’s Academy

In 2003 GiGi Diaz founded GiGi’s Academy, located in Hialeah, FL. A performing arts studio dedicated to offering children a safe place of nurture, growth, and rhythm. Students are taught art, modeling, musical theater, and different styles of dance such as flamenco, salsa, ballet, belly dance, and jazz/hip hop fusion. Offer includes Quinces, solo, and fashion show choreographies, as well as after school care and dance summer camp.

GiGi’s Academy has acquired a name for itself within the community by performing in local events such as The MDC Bookfair, La Feria del Libro, Our Lady of the Lakes and Our Mother of the Redeemer church fairs, City of Hialeah's Snow Blast and Easter Eggstravaganza events each year, Victory Day for Youth, City of Hialeah's Triangle Parks Christmas Inaugurations among others.

GiGi's Academy has been seleted to work with prestigious companies like Radio Disney and the Florida Marlins for the 2007 and 2008 baseball season, Moroch Entertainment, Talento Artistico Juvenil, and others. Modeling studens have worked for Marshalls, T.J. MAXX, and Payless as models for the back to school fashions consecutive years being televised on Despierta America and De Mañanita; and have worked with the American Cancer Society as performers in Relay for Life on a yearly basis as well as the Lion's Club Hialeah.

GiGi’s Academy has worked on a variety of television events such as Despierta America, Tropicama, Arrebatados[6], A las 7 con Fernando, Pellizcame que Estoy Soñando, and "De Mañanita. On Febrary 13th 2011, the Academy won the "Step Up to the Streets" dance off compeition and their winning piece was aired on NBC 6 on Feb 14th [7],

The Isle Casino Racing Pompano Park

GiGi Diaz joined the broadcast team at The Isle Casino Racing Pompano Park starting with the 2010-2011 live harness racing season. As special assignment trackside reporter and public liaison, GiGi is a fresh perspective to horse racing in South Florida and has quickly become a steady fixture on race nights with interactive games, contests, and live TV interviews, as well her outstanding recorded segments. She has been praised for reaching out to all age groups through her work as a contemporary and unique combination of energy, interest, and fun to make race nights truly a 'happening' at Pompano Park. She hosted the Pompano Park's 2010 toys for tots drive for the United States Marines[8]
