Automobile acceleration by minimum price for lowest 0 to 60 acceleration edit

Note the below table compares 0 to 60 acceleration by price for vehicles sold in the USA. For a car to be included it must out accelerate every other new production automobile with a base price up to and including its base price. Kit cars and cars with no available roof (soft or hard) will not be included however SUV's and Trucks may be. Tuner or modified cars also are not on this table, just stock configuration. Acceleration values only from Car and Driver, Motortrend magazine, Road and Track, Automobile Magazine and only most recent version of vehicle. Also if two cars have same 0 to 60 and more expensive one is faster in 1/4mi acceleration, both are kept on list as this better reflects cars acceleration potential after 60mph. This is ment to be a continualy evolving list if you have new data from a major automotive magazine and it displaces a car on the list feel free to modify list but site your sources so its verifiable, and site price from the manufacturers web site or one of above auto mags. The most important values on this table are price and 0 to 60 time. You will note price will always increase top to bottom and 0 to 60 should always decrease.

Q: Can I edit the table? A: Absolutely, but please follow the rules so the table remains accurate:

  • Site your source so table is verifiable just use reference tags.
  • Please use data for vehicles offered in the US market, if you want foreign market vehicles please start another table, you can use any of the data from this table you want.
  • Please use only major automotive magazines as stated above table, this will keep the data objective with formal testing procedures and minimize bias toward any one automobile manufacturer, car or brand.
  • When you can quote base MSRP price from manufacturers web site or suggested auto magazines and provide source.
  • Please do not put kit cars or tuner/modified cars on the table. Please do not put motorcycles on the table. Just use vehicles that are made by established manufacturers with 4 wheels and an available roof. (Yes the ariel atom would be on the table if it had a roof, but it dosent currently). It is self evident that motorcycles and kit cars can be made faster then most of the mainstream automobiles on the table, as can modified cars, but this would defeat the goal of the table.

Q: Can SUV's and Trucks be on the table? A: Absolutely if they have 4 wheels and a roof (hard or soft), but follow table rules for price and speed just as you would a car.

Q: Why all the rules? A: They keep the table relevant for the average driver and or enthusiast, and keep it from becoming just a list of 0 to 60 times.

Q: I just read the latest ________ Magazine and it states that ________ Car is faster for the price then the _______ car on the above table. A: Then please update the table with the new info and site sources.

Q: I notice two of the cars on the table have the same 0 to 60mph time but one is more expensive, why is it on the table. A: Because it may accelerate better after it reaches 60mph as evident by a quicker 1/4 mile time then the lower priced car. The goal of the table is to compare acceleration for a given price sometimes 0 to 60mph dosent give the entire picture. However the more expensive car may not be more expensive then any car on the list with a quicker 0 to 60mph time. This would negate the goal of the table.
