Llandegfan Antelope FC is a football team playing in the Anglesey League (part of the Welsh football league system).

History edit

CPD Llandegfan FC edit

A football team from Llandegfan was recorded as early as the first ever recorded Anglesey League table of the 1897/98 season[1]. The Club spent two seasons in the Bangor and District league (1932/33 & 1933/34)[2] before returning to the Anglesey League.

Like most clubs, they have not been consistent members, in that there have been seasons where they were unable to enter a team, but in the main they have been a predominant member of the Anglesey League. Llandegfan failed to enter a team during the 2010/11 season.

Antelope FC edit

Antelope FC was set up as a Sunday League Football Club in June 2010 by Iwan Lloyd Ellis and Jamie Davies, with funding from Steve Winrow. The Club initially struggled to find a pitch with several applications turned down before coming to an agreement to share with Anglesey League side Pentraeth.[3]

Antelope FC entered the North Gwynedd and Anglesey Sunday League for the first time in the 2010-11 season and finished in 9th position. Their second season was more successful as they were crowned Champions.

For the 2012/13 season, Antelope FC left their Pentraeth home and merged with CPD Llandegfan, who had withdrawn from the League following the 2010-11 season, to become Llandegfan Antelope FC and enter the Anglesey League.

Llandegfan Antelope FC edit

Following the merger of the two clubs, Llandegfan Antelope FC are in their inaugural season competing in the Anglesey League.
