Woody Island (2010) is an Australian adventure/mystery film, written and directed by Brendan Ritchie. Starring Jesse Phillips, Kate McGinniskin, Igor Sas and Keagan Kang, the film is set on Woody Island, off the coast of southern Western Australia.

Plot

Set on a remote island over the Australia Day weekend, the film focuses on the mysterious occurrences around camp, including the disappearance of several campers. Young tour guide Ronnie (Jesse Phillips), and former Neighbours starlet-turned-backpacker Tegan (Kate McGinniskin), explore the island for answers.

Production

Woody Island was shot on location during 2008. Writer and director Brendan Ritchie said, "Woody Island is such an interesting place to set a film, with its geographical isolation and its natural beauty."[2] The shoot involved approximately 30 people and took one month.[3]

Release

The film premiered on 30 August 2010 at Luna on SX, Fremantle. It was screened at the Festival of the Wind in December 2010,[4] followed by international film festivals.
