Judith Matloff(1958-) is an author, journalist, and war correspondent. She has traveled the globe to cover stories over a wide range of topics, but her most impressive work was in Africa; particularly in Angola. She has won two Fulbrights, and a MacArthur Grant.

Judith Matloff was born in Queens on March 28, 1958. She grew in a semi-Jewish household. Her parents were named Lawrence Matloff and Hildegarde Rutchkin. She has one sister, Susan.

She currently lives in Harlem with her husband John van Schaik, and her son Anton van Schaik.
