Fu Gung Gar - Kung Fu

Hung Gar and Lau Gar Kung Fu are the fundamental teachings alongside Indonesian, Malaysian and Phillippino ways of fighting that incorporate Shifu Martin's Fu Gung Gar. Fu Gung Gar opened its doors to the general public on the 17th of March 2010. Six animals incoperate the arena; the sixth being a new addition completing the family of Fu Gung Gar, Stag (or Red Dear) Making the circle complete. The use of this particular animal and possible reason why this animal wasn't considered in the House of Shaolin is that Red Dear (Stag) are not indegionous in terms of Asia and only introduced to the UK and Europe as a food source - Veal. As an animal the Stag embodies nobility; a regale presents. In fact visually empowering. Martin W Pickering chooses this particular animal simply to reflect his own interpretation of combat, combat regarding sport related application or a more real understanding of self defense, protection of others etc. Like any Kung Fu, combat is only one aspect, a small loop in the fabric of personal growth and spiritual peace. For some it is fundamental and plays a key role that applies it's self through out the students life. What is more important is the knowledge and acceptence of loss, defeat being a core figure. Only when you have understood why; can you progress.
