The 2nd Battalion, 131st Field Artillery, better known as the Texas Lost Battalion of the United States Army during World War II, was a National Guard unit composed of mostly soldiers from Texas. The 2nd Battalion was captured after a determined stand at the Battle of Java (1942), and was placed into Prisoner of War camps in Thailand, Burma, and Japan. They remained imprisoned for the remainder of World War II, working on the infamous Burma Railway and in other labor camps.
