Charles Wang

Charles Wang, born February 4th, 1997, is a professional golfer who is the first person from the People’s Republic of China to qualify through Q School. Charles received his Web.com tour card after four months of qualifying stages among a field of over a thousand professional golfers coming from all over the world.


Early Life

At the age of six, Wang participated in his first junior tournament. In 2010, he came to the United States to attend Sarasota Christian School. In 2011, he won the IMG Leadbetter Junior Championship. In 2012, Wang served as team captain on Sarasota Christian School’s Varsity Golf team, finishing second individually at the Florida High School Athletics Association (FHSAA) Regional before placing sixth in the FHSAA State Finals. In 2014, Wang was recruited to attend Northwestern University as one of the members of their college golf team. He participated in the Big Ten Match Play Championship (3-0), Big Ten Championship (13th), South Beach International Amateur (T-7th), U.S. Amateur Participant, Florida Open (T-11th), and The Concession Cup Am-Am (Winner).

Charitable Work

As a player of the Erhu (a Chinese musical instrument), Wang was actively involved in the 2011, 2012, and 2013 Gulf Coast Chinese New Year Charitable Performances in Sarasota, FL. In 2011, Wang performed for World Peace Day. In 2012, he performed at his high school to help raise funds for a new building. In 2012, he performed along with the Venice Symphony for a local fundraiser. In 2013, Wang performed for the 8th annual Florida Statewide Chinese Competition as an erhu soloist. In 2013, he persuaded more than 100 supporters to raise money for the American Junior Golf Association for charitable purposes.
