My name is Shelly Dhir, PharmD, and I work for GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) in the United States as a [role]. Until October 29, 2010, I will be participating with other GSK staff in the Health Speaks initiative. The initiative aims to help increase the amount of high-quality online health information in local languages. A pilot has begun to support community-based, crowd-sourced translation of health information from English into Arabic, Hindi and Swahili on Wikipedia.  For the first 60 days, Google will donate 3 cents (US) for each English word translated to the Children's Cancer Hospital Egypt 57357, the Public Health Foundation of India and the African Medical and Research Foundation (AMREF) for the pilots in Arabic, Hindi and Swahili.  GSK will participate in Health Speaks as a unique approach to our “Orange Day” initiative which allows employees to take one day fully paid to volunteer for a chosen community project, organization or cause which they support.   My nickname on Health Speaks is GSKOrangeDayShelly.

If you would like to contact me for more information, please leave a message on my talk page.
