Outer Clapton
Outer Clapton is an ill defined area primed for gentrification overspill from the outward march of a complex and inter-related series of socio-economic factors that include but are not necessarily limited to:
1. The increasing rental prices that began in the late 1990s in Shoreditch and moved ever outward to Dalston, London Fields and Clapton.
While an unofficial extension of the London Borough of Hackney into the London Borough of Waltham Forest (an outer London Borough with Inner London problems) it defies precise georgraphic boundaries, but is generally considered to start at the Hackney/Waltham Forest border at Lea Bridge Road, and extend as far out in any direction as your mind can envisage. Its centre is defined by what it is not, for it is a little West of Leyton, a little south of Walthamstow and a little north-east of Hackney.
