"Jolomo" who writes on Atlanta history, complimented me on my edit on Sidney Root, and asked me if there is somewhere a public autobiography. Root's Memorandum of My Life: Sidney Root, 1824-1894 was written originally for the Atlanta Pioneer Society. I believe a public copy of it may be available in the Atlanta Historical Society archives. I know they have other material, including letters to him from Mrs. Jefferson Davis, which I have seen. For an edited version of Root's Memorandum, which relies on Wikipedia supplemental notes, access is available under the title Sidney Root, 1824-1894: A Yankee by Birth, A Rebel at Heart at the following website.
